Electric atvs are awesome. For more than one reason too. These eco-friendly atvs for sale have the ability to keep you riding way longer than any gas powered four wheeler on the market to-date.
If, that is, you can swap out the electric atv’s dead battery for a fully-charged one.
Those interested in having this type of riding longevity at their fingertips may be wondering if there are electric atvs for adults. We are happy to let you know there are a few brands that carry electric models, such as the following.
- Razor 500 DLX
- Sahara X
- Yukon Trail MS-EALASH
- Stealth Electric
That said, compared to the gas powered atv selection, the electric models are a bit scarce.
And unfortunately, this will likely stay the same for the next decade. Unless things change drastically after 2021, when production for the new Tesla ATV starts.
What We Know So Far
In addition to a production date, Elon Musk, founder of Tesla gave us a few other key details. For example, the Tesla four wheeler is an electric two-seater, with four big, dirt shredding wheels, and what appears to be a horizontal line of bright LEDs for a brake light.
Now, you may be wondering why Musk opted to reveal the new four wheeler alongside the curious looking Cybertruck. After all, there is a pretty big market for people that are browsing four wheelers for sale, especially here in Charleston, South Carolina.
Nevertheless, the reason the Tesla ATV was debuted during a Cybertruck presentation was due to a proposed bundle the company is offering. See, those who opt to purchase a Cybertruck will be able to add on the Tesla ATV as an accessory.
And from a marketing standpoint, that makes sense. The Tesla electric atv, or Cyberquad as Musk called it, can plug into the Cybertruck to recharge. Which is pretty convenient when you are miles away from a charging station.
Unfortunately, beyond the mere glimpse provided, we do not know much else about the Cyberquad.
Based on the Market
Even though we do not have all of the details yet, we can look at public demand and supply to get an estimate of what to anticipate. For starters, it looks like the bed of the Cybertruck is only big enough for one quad.
This likely means if you want to bring kids four wheelers along, you will need a trailer. Which is not a big deal, unless the extra weight overly drains the Cybertruck battery beyond the point of being worth it.
In addition, the convenience of being able to fully charge an electric quad anywhere may not be so great when it comes time to recharging two kids all terrain vehicles. Or your spouse’s. Then there is the chance your Cybertruck ends up losing all of its energy while recharging multiple atvs, leaving you and your family stranded at an atv track.
Oh, and let’s hope there is a lock on the charge port. Otherwise, you can probably count on finding your Cybertruck completely drained by a random passerby, more often than not.
That said, if these issues are addressed and you are interested in purchasing a Cybertruck, it may be worth it to get a “Cyberquad”. However, if you are not feeling the electric truck and you are in the market for a new or used four wheeler, waiting around to find out more about the Tesla quad is probably not worth waiting for.
