Motorcycle Races to Watch in 2022

As vaccination rates increase organizers feel more confident about hosting in-person events. Of these mass gatherings, motorcycle races are arguably the most exhilarating to attend. Read on to learn more about which sports bike competitions are returning in 2022.

Isle of Man TT

The annual, two-week long motorsports event known as the Isle of Man TT takes place in the country it is named after. Week one is utilized to give racers a chance to practice driving on the 37.73 mile course carved out of existing public streets. Once these sessions are over the island roads are closed off every other day so the official races can take place.

That said, the Isle of Man TT is scheduled to occur from May 28th to June 11th 2022. Sports bike fans aiming to participate in the race can learn more about the motorsports event here.

Daytona Supercross

The Daytona Supercross, also known as the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, is set to unfold at Daytona International Speedway on March 5th. This championship event is known for showcasing some of the fastest sports bikes and best known motorcyclists in the world.

To do these top tier motorcycles and racers justice, the owner of the 2.5 mile, tri oval track adds an extra bit of razzle-dazzle to the show. According to Frank Kelleher, President of Daytona International Speedway, “With the world-class pyrotechnics and dazzling lights show of rider introductions to the excitement of the incredible course, the atmosphere at the DAYTONA Supercross is second to none”.

Admission tickets start at $40, and children under the age of 6 do not need a ticket to attend.

MotoAmerica King of the Baggers Championship 2022

After the success of the initial event, King of the Baggers organizers decided to bring the series back in 2022. However, unlike the first King of the Baggers, the second iteration of the motorsport event is set to occur at six different tracks, rather than just four.

Here is a quick review of the race locations and dates.

  • Daytona International Speedway: March 10 – 12
  • Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta: April 22 – 24
  • Road America Elkhart Lake: June 3 – 5
  • WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca: July 8 – 10
  • Brainerd International Raceway: July 29 – 31
  • New Jersey Motorsports Park: September 9 – 11

For those unfamiliar with the racing series, King of the Baggers feature bagger motorcycles as well as those skilled enough to ride the finicky model. Thanks to this strict exclusivity, Harley Davidson, Indian Motorcycle, and other motorcycle manufacturer fans are able to see how well their favorite bagger models fare in a race.

That said, there is currently only one official champion of the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers Championship. Kyle Wyman. This Harley Davidson rider secured first place in 2021 by driving faster and winning more races than the Indian Motorcycle racer, Tyler O’Hara.

And considering both of these world class motorcyclists are planning to participate in the 2022 series, it is pretty clear the motorsports event is going to be even more exciting than last year.
